Vacuum assist resin transfer moulding is new method to make product from fiber and resin. this review i got from seminar PT Arindo speaker from South Africa and discuss with Gerry L.P (Master Program on Mechanical Engineering Major Naval Technology). Actually before this method is known, old method is Hand layup and still is used until now. hand lay up is method that use negative mold as model, positive mold as casting and then product. hand layup have longer time than VARTM. The different of VARTM conduct on vacuum pressure, so with differential pressure resin can flow without air fall into product. Actually mechanical strength of fiberglass depend on quality of generation especially from environment. If many air fall in product when give resin such as hand lay up, material properties less stronger than VARTM, because vacuum can reduce air in product. Therefore beside stronger VARTM have leaner weight than hand lay up method on product fiberglass. So if ship can produce with this method we can reduce light weight ton of ship.
First step is prepare the model, in this simulator used ship, and then we make positive mold before vacuum resin.
